Taunton School Committee delays a subcommittee-chair dispute over Open Meeting Law concerns. Superintendent Cabral recommended a two-week postponement after Ms. Santos emailed board members opinions on subcommittee chair duties, special education procedures and a possible CPAC-linked subcommittee, which he said could be "construed as a quorum" discussion.
A procedural roll call passed 6-2, and the deferral itself carried with Santos the lone recorded no. "So those opinions are not going to change," Santos said. Mrs.
Schatz said the problem was that "there was an opinion in there." Separately, Director of Human Resources Shannon Turner reported the district opened 99 percent staffed, up from 87 percent in fiscal year 2024, and the Finance and Law Subcommittee approved $1,350,341.55 in FY27 bills payable, including a $20,500 sports video-analysis package shared across the Hockomock League.
