TAUNTON --
YOUTH LEAGUES -- Taunton Youth Basketball's MetroWest League registration portal has reopened for families to complete final registration and uniform payments, the league's website says. The portal is open "ONLY for players who have been selected for a team," and the league is "NOT accepting new player registrations for the 2026-27 season." The MetroWest League fields boys' and girls' teams for grades 4-8, with a 12-game regular season, six home and six away, followed by playoffs at a neutral site. The season runs from December into mid-March depending on playoff results. The league fee is $350, with a $100 uniform fee for players who need a new one; $175 is due at registration and the remaining balance is due before the first game. Players who do not make a team will be refunded.
HIGH SCHOOL -- At the Oct. 21 School Committee Finance and Law Subcommittee meeting, Business Manager Mr. Almeida reported that the district's FY27 revolving fund encumbrances of $893,000 include costs tied to "the work at the high school for the Taunton High School softball field" bathroom facility, which was approved by the committee in a prior meeting. No additional details on timeline or total cost were given.
